I think a lot will be determined by who is pitching. If the Jays might need some extra runs I can see X playing there.

Not my No. 1 choice, I hope Glaus can play 150 games.

I think Ricciardi misplayed this. He now has MacDonald to play late inning defense @ SS, a role that Olmedo would have fit nicely at a lower ( although not greatly significant ) cost. I also think it's hardly ideal to have 3 RH middle infielders, Scutaro, MacDonald & Eckstein.

Well ... I think ol' J.P. was giving us the fan favourite. I've gotta admit, while I hated to see him at the plate, I was always glad when he was behind the pitchers.

Oh well.

Best Regards

JohnJohn Brattainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12556478291131951192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112832200135351871.post-86003165474363456872007-12-17T13:38:00.000-08:002007-12-17T13:38:00.000-08:00Yeah, lets talk about baseball, I'm Mitchelled out...Yeah, lets talk about baseball, I'm Mitchelled out and I haven't even read it...yet.

My concerns with Eckstein are how his arm will play @ SS on the ersatz turf at Rogers Centre. No way I see him playing 3rd when Glaus is sitting, I see that as Scutaro's job. Again, I think his arm is too short for 3rd. The Hot Stove had teams interested in him @ 2nd, i.e. the Padres.

I do think this is positive for the offense. Pre Eckstein, if the Jays opted to play Stairs in LF over Johnson they lacked a true leadoff hitter. Eckstein solves that dilemma. I expect Johnson will still play against LH and obviously a lot of late inning defense.

I think Ricciardi misplayed this.
